Health Sciences Research Building, Pharmacology-Toxicology Lab
As part of Marshall Craft’s nearly 30-year relationship with Virginia Commonwealth University, we led the comprehensive modernization of a 50-year-old pharmacology-toxicology wet lab located within the 110-year-old Health Sciences Research Building. The renovation transformed the aging lab into an advanced, high-performing research environment. Specialized spaces include areas for electrophysiology air tables, a radioisotope lab, and a dedicated tissue culture procedure room, tailored to support cutting-edge biomedical research. Upgrades included the full replacement of lab casework and fume hoods, integrated lab gas systems, new HVAC distribution, recessed LED lighting, and durable, cleanable finishes suited for intensive scientific work.
The project features specialized spaces designed to facilitate cutting‑edge biomedical research, from spaces equipped with electrophysiology air tables to a dedicated radioisotope lab and a tissue culture procedure room. To bring the facility up to current standards, all the lab casework and fume hoods were replaced, integrated lab gas systems were installed, the HVAC distribution was upgraded, and recessed LED lighting was added. Durable and cleanable finishes safeguard the space’s ability to withstand the rigors of intensive scientific work.
